Stowe, Vermont Travel Guide
For those of you who don’t really know me.. I’m a winter girl.
I love the cold.
I love the snow.
I love the winter months and all the winter activities.
When Matte (my husband) and I were dating our anniversary was January 19th.
My birthday is January 26th and Matte even proposed to me on my Golden Birthday!
Which made me realize.. I never really talked about our proposal and how special it was to me! I figured I could kill two birds with one stone and talk about the proposal while making a travel guide of one of my favorite places.. Stowe, Vermont.
At this point in time I was taking a break from blogging, so sorry for the lack of photos.
It was going to be my golden birthday and I knew Matte had just bought an engagement ring for me. If you know Matte, he doesn’t really keep a surprise especially, since I plan almost everything out for us. So he had told me he bought me an engagement ring that I had picked out, but I didn’t know when the magic movement was going to happen. He had bought it in November and now it was January.. So I’d been waiting a minute.
Matte mentioned wanting to do something special for my birthday since it was my golden birthday, and I’m assuming he also wanted to propose.
I suggested going to Vermont because like I said, I love all things winter, and mine and my mom’s favorite movie is White Christmas.
Surprisingly, he was game and so were his parents and my parents.. didn’t realize it was going to be a family trip, but hey! The more the merrier!
Views from our stay at
We stayed at The Farm Home which was absolutely stunning! Of course, I’m lacking pictures, but I linked their instagram so you can check them out!
Our first day there we went snowmobiling on some trails!
Of course I showed up in this snow outfit and they had no faith in my skills, but don’t worry they quickly learned I was the best in my class!
We did the two hour snowmobile tour and it was so much fun!
We eventually got a break and I hopped off my snowmobile to take a picture with Matte to make it look like he was driving me hehe.
The Proposal
The next day, Matte took me on a beautiful sleigh ride..
He booked our sleigh ride with Gentle Giants Sleigh Ride.
It was absolutely perfect! There was a beautiful light snow and Vermont looked beautiful on a carriage, let me tell you!
I could tell Matte was really nervous so I had a feeling he was going to propose on this sleigh ride, I just couldn’t tell when.
Poor guy waited all the way until the end of the sleigh ride!
After the sleigh ride we went back to the farm house to tell our parents and Adan and to show them the ring! I think it was pretty clear Adan was the most excited!
Afterwards, we went out to The Backyard to celebrate!
They had the best Brussel sprouts and really good bourbon!
One weird thing about Stowe, is that liquor stores, bars, and some restaurants can close whenever they want. We would see that a restaurant would say that they were open until 9pm and we would go there and they would have a sign on the door saying something along the lines of “sorry we decided to close early today”. Must be nice.
Later that evening we had a reservation at The Whip Bar & Grill which I definitely recommend! Make sure to make a reservation! It gets very busy!
On our last day, we went on one more sleigh ride with everyone! This time we booked it with The Kingdom’s Horse Drawn Wagon & Sleigh Ride since there was so many of us!
They had cookies, coffee, and hot chocolate that we could take on the sleigh ride! It was perfect for kids!
I want to go back to Vermont SOOOO bad! There’s still so many things that I want to do like:
Eat at the dinning room in Edison Hall.
Tour the Ben & Jerry’s.
Go Skiing at Sugarbush.. or at least just enjoy the Apres.
If you’re ever thinking about going to Vermont.. DO IT!!!!
